Teenager charged with the murder of relative's husband

Tuscaloosa Police have charged a 15-year-old teenager with the shooting death of a 39-year-old man.

The two lived in the same home in the 100 block of 20th Avenue East.

Investigators say the juvenile and victim, Samuel Long had an ongoing feud and believe the teen got other young men living at the home to team up on the victim Monday night.

"Things got physical and we believe relatives and friends of the suspect assaulted the victim," says Captain Loyd Baker with the Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide Unit.

Police believe Long was either thrown or jumped out a front window of the home.{} They also believe as he was running away he was shot in the back and then collapsed in a yard across the street where police found him.

Investigators say Long was married to a woman in the house and{}the two were going through a divorce{}but would not confirm whether the young suspect was her son.

{} However they do say officers have been called to the home in the recent past on domestic related situations.

{} "We believe this was retaliation type confrontation and the suspect was upset over physical violence that a relative in the home had suffered at the hands of the victim."
