      2 Arrested for Chemical Endangerment of a Child

      {}Two Etowah County women have been arrested for chemical endangerment of a child, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.Investigator Bobby Bryant states, "Krystle Leigh Peppers, 31, of Gadsden, was charged on July 24, with one count of chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed, which is a felony."Peppers is pregnant and admitted to using drugs after she was arrested for theft by the Attalla Police Department.{} She tested positive for amphetamines.{} Her bond was set at $15,000.{} Peppers is currently on Community Corrections. Cierra Brooke Blackwood, 19, of Gadsden, was also charged on July 24, with one count of chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed, which is a felony.Investigator Bryant states Blackwood, who is pregnant, was arrested by the Attalla Police Department for theft and tested positive for amphetamines and methamphetamine.{} Her bond was set at $15,000.Both women have been sent to receive treatment from the Aletheia House in Birmingham.{} The Aletheia House offers a program that specializes in the treatment of pregnant women.
