      20-year-old man arrested for setting car on fire in Tuscaloosa

      A 20-year-old man was arrested Friday for setting a vehicle on fire in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Tuscaloosa.

      Steven Matthew Lyons has been charged with first-degree criminal mischief, public intoxication, giving false name to law enforcement and obstructing governmental operations. He is currently being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on bonds totaling $17,500 and a hold for sobriety.

      Tuscaloosa police responded to a vehicle fire at The Woodlands of Tuscaloosa in the 1100 block of East Hargrove Road at 1:52 a.m. Upon arriving, officers discovered a 2004 black Audi A4 on fire and the windows busted out.

      While on the scene, a brush fire was reported near building 100 at the apartment complex. Officers proceeded to the location and began a foot pursuit with Lyons before eventually apprehending the man, taking him into custody while he attempted to climb a fence.

      Lyons was questioned by arson investigators before being transported to jail.
