2002 cold case murder suspect identified

The Birmingham Police Department has made a cold case arrest in the murder of Birmingham Police Officer Joseph Daniels in November 2002.

A Capital Murder warrant has been obtained against Adam Bradford. {}An Attempted Murder warrant with a $60,000.00 bond has also been obtained against him.{} Bradford is in the custody of the St. Clair Correctional Facility on unrelated charges.{} {}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}

Officer Joseph Daniels was shot and killed when he interrupted a robbery at Reno Chicken and Burgers on Graymont Avenue at approximately 8:45PM on November 18, 2002. Officer Daniels, who was off duty at the time, exchanged shots with the suspect and pursued him out of the restaurant until he collapsed as a result of a gunshot wound to the chest. A restaurant employee was also shot and wounded by the suspect.{} {}Officer Daniels served with the Birmingham Police Department for ten years and was assigned to the North Precinct.

Bradford has prior arrests for drug offenses, unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle and robbery.
