      2014 Best & Worst Cities For Families - Birmingham's ranking

      A new report ranks Birmingham as one of the worst cities to live in with your family. The report, which was released by wallethub.com compared the 150 largest cities in the United States based on 31 key metrics, that take into account essential family dynamics including the availability of quality jobs, the relative cost of housing, the quality of local school and health care systems, and the opportunities for fun and recreation.{} Plano, Texas was named the best place to live. Birmingham ranked 89 out of 150 for health and safety but when it comes to education and child care, the magic city was listed as 148. Birmingham was ranked 131 for family activities and fun, 135 when it comes to affordability, and 138 for its socio-economic environment.
