      UPDATED: 3 arrested in Blount Co. homicide, arson

      Three people were arrested and charged in the death of a Blount county man earlier this month.{}

      Donald Clayton Whited, 66, died Jan. 13 in a fire at his home in the 3900 block of Ebell Road. Following a preliminary investigation, the Alabama State Fire Marshal and members of the ATF ruled the fatal blaze as arson.{} An autopsy was performed on Whited's body, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide, although authorities have not released the cause.

      Kenneth Owen Whited, 58, of Oneonta, was charged with solicitation to commit capital murder.{} He posted a $150,000 property bond and was released from the Blount County Correctional Facility.

      Jimmy Lane Maxwell, 58, of Oneonta, was charged with conspiracy to commit capital murder.{} His bond is set at $150,000.{} He is currently in the Blount County Correctional Facility.

      Pamela Ellen Rains, 54, of Oneonta, was charged with hindering prosecution.{} Her bond is set at $80,000.{} She is currently in the Blount County Correctional Facility.

      District Attorney Pamela Casey said the cases will be presented to a grand jury.{} More charges are expected, however, the DA would not comment further.
