3 arrested on drug charges after standoff with law enforcement in DeKalb Co.
Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports the arrest of Aaron Wayne West, 22, of Higdon along with Deanna Mccurdy, 24, of Henagar and Jesse Lee Baker, 18, of Lafayette after officers found the three suspects in an abandoned house near Cartersville.
All three suspects refused to come to the door, prompting Special Response Team (SRT) members to be called to the scene.
After several attempts to get the subjects to exit the house, the SRT made entry and took West into custody without incident.
West was wanted on outstanding felony warrants and a probation revocation. He is additionally charged with unlawful manufacturing controlled substances 1st degree, unlawful possession of controlled substance, felony unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence.
"I'm glad to have West in jail. He has been hiding out for the past few weeks and threatening our officers about not being arrested without a fight." Sheriff Harris said in a release.
Mccurdy and Baker are charged with unlawful manufacturing controlled substances 1st degree, unlawful possession of controlled substance, felony unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and tampering with evidence.
"I appreciate the Ider and Henegar officers who have helped so much in catching West today." Harris continued. "Our SRT did exactly what we want to do in these situations. They went in prepared and the suspects quickly surrendered. This is how we want these conflicts to be resolved. We don't take threats lightly because you just don't know how people are going to act. This was a good outcome."
