5 Plead Guilty In Abduction Of Girl In Mississippi

Five people have pleaded guilty in Jackson, Mississippi,{} in a scheme to kidnap a 6-year-old girl from her school in April.{} The child was found unharmed the next day on a rural road.Authorities say the woman who orchestrated the plan, Jesse Mae Brown Pollard, and her son Devonta Pollard, a former basketball player at the University of Alabama, were not among the five people who pleaded guilty Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Jackson.{}{} {}Authorities say Jesse Pollard planned the abduction to pressure her cousin, the child's mother, in a land dispute.

Shamarius Ruffin, Wanda Faye Dancy and Shaquayla Johnigan pleaded guilty to conspiracy. Joyce Johnigan and James Shurmon Johnigan pleaded guilty to withholding information on a felony.{}{} {}The sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 22.
