7,000 remain without power in Alabama following Christmas Day storms
Alabama Power said Wednesday morning that approximately 47,500 customers suffered power outages during the Christmas Day storms Tuesday, with the bulk of the outages coming in Mobile following a large tornado.
Officials reported that 28,500 lost power in Mobile and 1,490 suffered outages in Birmingham.
At 11:22 a.m., the utility company reported that nearly 85 percent of the customers have had their power restored and around 7,400 customers, 4,100 in Mobile, are still without power. Officials estimate that by Thursday morning, 99 percent of Mobile will have power again.
