Clay County Sheriff: ABI investigating deputy-involved shooting during traffic stop near Ashland

      ASHLAND, Ala -- The Clay County Sheriff's Office says a deputy and a drug task force agent were involved in a shooting Friday night near Ashland.According to Sheriff Ray Latham, the incident occurred around 8:25 p.m. after a deputy and a Clay County Drug Task Force agent made a traffic stop on a vehicle along Bluff Springs Road, just south of Ashland. Once confronted, the driver allegedly pulled a long-barreled weapon on the agent and deputy. Moments later, the suspect was shot, suffering non-life threatening injuries. Latham said the suspect was taken to an area hospital, where he continues to be treated for his injuries.The Alabama Bureau of Investigation is probing the shooting.
