Accused Copper Top shooter pleads not guilty

Evidence technicians gathering evidence at The Copper Top in downtown Tuscaloosa following a mass shooting on July 17, 2012.

Nathan Wilkins pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect in the July shooting at Tuscaloosa's Copper Top restaurant.

Wilkins' attorney entered the plea through electronic filing this morning.

Wilkins is charged with 17 counts of attempted murder at the bar, and one additional attempted murder charge from the shooting of a man at a house in Northport.
