ACLU sues state over inmate HIV policy

{} {} The American Civil Liberties Union is suing Alabama over its policy of segregating HIV positive inmates from other prisoners.{} {} The trial is set to begin Monday at the federal courthouse in Montgomery. {}The lead attorney in the case for the ACLU, says HIV is now controlled by medicine and is no longer the death sentence it was once considered. {}She says continuing to isolate HIV inmates is "absurd."{} {} Alabama and South Carolina are the only states that continue the practice.{} {} The Department of Corrections is not commenting on the case before the start of the trial.
