AEA urges "No" vote on Amendment 4

The Alabama Education Association says people should vote "No" on Amendment 4. {}That amendment would remove racist language from Alabama's Constitution, but it would also restate language that inhibits integration. {}That language was added in 1956. {}The racist language to be removed provided for separate schools by race and for poll taxes.

The AP reports that language says there is no right to a public education in Alabama. AEA also fears that the amendment could lead to money for education being diverted to other uses.{}
