      AEA cancels event set to talk about challenge to Accountability Act

      The Alabama Education Association has canceled an event with news reporters today about a challenge to the Alabama Accountability Act this afternoon (Tuesday, August 27, 2013) at 3PM.

      Dr. Greg Graves, Associate Executive Secretary of the Alabama Education Association, and members of the AEA legal team were set to meet the media at the AEA headquarters in Montgomery.The AEA Isn't the only organization to file suit on the act. {}The Southern Poverty Law Center has as well. {} The SPLC suit says the new law still leaves students stuck in failing public schools. {}It says private schools cost too much, and the few public schools participating in nearby counties are too far away for these students. {}The organization wants a court to permanently block the accountability act.More filings are expected. {}{}
