AHSAA postpones Indoor Track and Field Championships

The AHSAA announced that it will move it's Indoor Track and Field Championships to the start of next week.

The state meet has been rescheduled for Monday and Tuesday at the Birmingham Crossplex. The original plan was for the meet to be held on Friday and Saturday but the AHSAA decided to alter it's schedule after Gov. Robert Bently extended Alabama's state of emergency through Friday to assist schools still struggling with icy road conditions in wake of Winter Storm Leon.

"Travel and safety are of the utmost concern," AHSAA Executive Director Steve Savarese said in a press release. "Many of our school systems will still be closed Friday. We also do not want to exclude student-athletes from competing because of this state of emergency."

The Indoor Track and Field Championships are scheduled to begin on Monday at 10 a.m.

The start time for Tuesday is 9 a.m.
