AL-DOT continues I-59 work

AL-DOT's work on Interstate 59 from State Route 3 (U.S. 31/ EB Stephens Expressway) to north of the I-20 Interchange continues. {}Crews are improving the section with a concrete pavement rehab project to improve {} The work began at the southbound Messer Airport Highway exit ramp and required combining two lanes of traffic.{}According to a news release, "the next phase will require the closure of the two southbound (inside) lanes from the Tallapoosa Street exit ramp to the intersection of the Elton B. Stephens Expressway. A 24/7 lane closure for the inside lane will be in place for the duration of this phase. The second lane closure will be from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. on weekdays and 10 p.m. on Fridays until 6 a.m. on Mondays."It could take 5 to 6 weeks to complete the work, but once the southbound side is done, the same work will {}begin on the northbound side, around November 2014. {} The entire project should be finished August 2015.For further information, visit
