      Alabama finalizes 2013 football schedule; Will host former coordinator Jim McElwain, Colorado St.

      Alabama finalized their 2013 football schedule with the addition of Colorado State. (abc3340.com)

      The University of Alabama finalized the 2013 football schedule after agreeing to a two-game series with Colorado State, the school announced on Thursday.

      The Rams are led by former Alabama offensive coordinator Jim McElwain, who left Tuscaloosa after winning the BCS National Championship last season to become the new head coach in Colorado Springs.

      The two teams agreed to play each other on September 21, 2013 at Bryant-Denny Stadium in the third game of the season, and will square off again in either 2015 or 2017, with a date to be determined.

      McElwain spent four seasons as the offensive play-caller for Nick Saban, winning two BCS titles and an SEC Championship. He went 4-8 in his first season at Colorado State.

      Alabama will open the 2013 season in Atlanta against Virginia Tech in the Chik-fil-A Kickoff Game. It will be their third appearance in the game since 2008.

      The Crimson Tide will have seven home games at Bryant-Denny Stadium, and four road trips including stops in College Station, Tx., Lexington Ky., Starkville, Miss. and Auburn. They will have two bye weeks with the first coming before Texas A&M and the second falling before they play host to LSU.
