Alabama baseball backs up top 25 ranking through opening weekend

Alabama passed the first test of the season.

The Crimson Tide won two of three against St. Louis and held strong at No. 21 in the Baseball America poll.

Alabama moved up one spot, to No. 28 in the Collegiate Baseball rankings.

The Tide lost to the Billikens,{}2-1 on Friday night but rebounded with wins on Saturday and Sunday.{}Alabama scored seven runs in the seventh to secure the final win of the weekend.

There are eight SEC teams in the Baseball America Top 25. South Carolina is ranked fifth, followed by Mississippi State (No. 7), LSU (No. 8), Vanderbilt (No. 9), Alabama, Florida (No. 23), Texas A&M (No. 24) and Arkansas (No. 25).

The Tide host Stephen F. Austin in a three game series beginning Friday night.
