TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The Alabama men's basketball team won a tight game over Arkansas, 59-56, Thursday night in Coleman Coliseum. Sophomore guard Trevor Lacey led the team with 14 points to go with six rebounds. Alabama goes to 13-7 on the year and 5-2 in Southeastern Conference play. Arkansas is now 13-7 and 3-4 in the SEC.

"We found a way to win," UA Head Coach Anthony Grant said. "It wasn't pretty. There were obviously things in the game we would have liked to have done differently, but at the end of the day when it came down to crunch time, our guys found a way. We did a great job at the free-throw line tonight. We had some big stops at the end of game."

Alabama committed a season-high 21 turnovers, but went 9-10 from the free-throw line at the end of the game, which accounted for their last nine points. Junior guard Trevor Releford tallied a dozen points while sophomore forward Nick Jacobs added 10 points off the bench.

Alabama out-rebounded Arkansas 38-29 which brings Alabama's record to 6-2 when outrebounding their opponents. "In the first half we didn't do a very good job rebounding the ball," Grant said. "Nine of their 23 points in the first half were second-chance points off offensive rebounds. In the second half we had 11 defensive rebounds and they got eight offensive rebounds. Many of those came late in the half. I thought we did a much better job down the stretch of fighting for rebounds and coming up with those loose balls."

Arkansas guard BJ Young had 14 points and four assists, both were team highs. Forward Marshawn Powell also had 11 points.

Alabama plays again Saturday, February 2, against Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn., looking to win their sixth game in SEC play. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.{} and the game will be televised by SEC network and the radio broadcast will be carried on the Crimson Tide Sports Network.
