MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - The Alabama football team practiced for the first time while in the Miami area, suiting up in full pads for two hours at Barry University on Thursday afternoon. The Crimson Tide continued preparations for top-ranked Notre Dame in its first of three practices on site for the Discover BCS National Championship Game.
"It is a great atmosphere here," Alabama junior linebacker C.J. Mosley said. "The wind is blowing and the sun is out so to get away from the rain and the cold in Tuscaloosa is great. "We had a good practice today with an upbeat tempo. The main thing is to just get back into shape. It was good to get outside and give it all we have to get ready for the game."
Alabama got its first full day in Miami started with a press conference that featured the offense at the Harbor Beach Marriott. Offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier was joined by quarterback AJ McCarron, offensive linemen Barrett Jones and Chance Warmack, running back Eddie Lacy and wide receiver Kevin Norwood for the 45 minute event.
The Tide will meet the Irish in Miami Gardens, Fla., on Monday, Jan. 7, to determine the national champion. ESPN will carry the matchup with Brent Musburger and Kirk Herbstreit calling the action and Tom Rinaldi and Heather Cox reporting from the sideline.
The Crimson Tide Radio Network team and head coach Nick Saban will broadcast the BCS Bowl Preview Radio Show live from the Sparkle Ballroom in the Fontainebleau Hotel at Miami Beach on Saturday, Jan. 5. The event is open to the general public and the doors will open at 4:30 p.m. Seating is limited. The broadcast is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
