Alabama lineman Austin Shepherd starts foundation benefiting children
Austin Shepherd, a sophomore University of Alabama offensive lineman, has started a foundation helping less-fortunate children. It is called The Austin Shepherd Foundation.
The mission statement of Shepherd's foundation found on his website, www.shepfoundation.org, states:
"The Austin Shepherd Foundation takes special care to make each child feel like the most important person in the world. We understand the unique needs of each family and their desire to introduce joy into an otherwise sad, difficult and painful experience."
Shepherd, a Buford, Georgia native, also says on his site that through monthly visits to Children's Hospital of Birmingham, fundraisers, football games and more, they look to help children find a reason to live and fight through their ailments. Their donations are sent directly to Children's Hospital where they are used to improve diagnosis and treatment for life threatening diseases.
