      Alabama Power is preparing for possible outages

      As winter weather rolls into our area, Alabama Power says the company is ready.{} Employees from south Alabama are up in central and north Alabama.{} Alabama Power spokesperson Ike Pigott says crews are at full capacity and standing by to restore any outages.The power company representatives say icy weather can be the most dangerous.{} "When you have ice, freezing rain, the wintry mix; it sticks to the power lines pulls things down and sticks to trees and makes them heavy and makes them fall down across lines," said Pigott.{} That ice may also make it difficult to get truck to the areas to repair lines.Crews that were on weather duty in Pennsylvania are now back in state.{} Pigott says they arrived in time enough to become well-rested and ready to work in this weather event.If you are an Alabama Power customer, you can report an outage by calling 800-888-2726.{} Outages can also be reported at www.alabamapower.com.{} Representatives say the website has been optimized for smartphones, to easily navigate and report lapses in power.
