Alabama sending GOP workers to other states


{} {} Alabama's Republican Party is sending volunteers to other states because GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney is expected to carry the state handily.{} {} Party Chairman Bill Armistead says 200 volunteers have already signed up to help in swing states. {}Busloads of volunteers will be going to Charlotte, NC; Virginia Beach, VA; Jacksonville, FL.; and Dayton, OH, to go door to door to try to sway undecided voters.{} {} Armistead said the chairman of the Republican National Committee, Reince Priebus, sought help in swing states and the Alabama GOP responded with volunteers it is calling "Alabama Battleground Patriots". He said volunteers who can't travel will staff phones in Alabama to call undecided voters in swing states.{} {} Republican nominees for president have carried Alabama in every election since 1980.
