Alabama sends Red Cross vehicles to East coast

As Hurricane Sandy bears down on the Atlantic coast, local Red Cross personnel is responding. The Alabama Region sent five Emergency Response Vehicles to help with mobile feeding and distribution of relief supplies. Three additional vehicles will leave Monday or Tuesday. Sixteen volunteers from the state have been deployed to assist with response efforts to Hurricane Sandy.

Hundreds of people already are in Red Cross shelters along the east coast. More shelters will be open as the storm moves closer.
