Alabama State close to getting new president

Alabama State University could have a new president before the day is over.{} University trustees met in Montgomery Friday to interview three finalists: Brigadier General, Samuel Nichols, Gwendolyn Boyd and Senator Quinton Ross.{} Ross and Boyd are Alabama State graduates.{} Nichols was deputy commander of the U.S. Joint Task Force at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Boyd is the executive assistant to the chief of staff of the Applied Physics Lab at John Hopkins University.{}
