Alabama State University Trustee Resigns

An Alabama State University trustee has stepped down from his position for health reasons.

Board of Trustees Chairman Elton Dean says that Birmingham doctor Lawrence Lemak has been sick for a while and has not attended a meeting in months. The 69-year-old Dr. Lemak has been undergoing cancer treatment for a lesion found on the base of his tongue since October 2012.{}

{}{}{} "Dr. Lemak has contributed to the University as a wise counsel and strong supporter during his tenure and he will be greatly missed by all members of the ASU family," says ASU's President, Dr. William Harris.{}{}

{} Governor Bentley will nominate a replacement for Dr. Lemak to the Senate during the current ongoing regular session of the State Legislature.
