Alabama Supreme Court Justice turns down JeffCo job
BIRMINGHAM - AL —
Alabama Supreme Court Associate Justice Mike Bolin withdrew his name from consideration for the Jefferson County attorney position Tuesday.
In a letter to commissioners, Bolin told them he was "honored to have been considered to serve as county attorney." However, after much prayer and discussions with his wife, Bolin said they felt it was the best decision for him to finish his career on the state's highest court where he could help all Alabama residents.
Last Thursday, the Jefferson County Commission in a 3-2 vote hired Bolin. That same day, Bolin said he was honored to be serving the county he had lived in for his entire life.
Commissioners will now revisit the initial list of seven candidates. Most of them are current or former judges.
A timeframe has not been set for making another hire.
