Alabama's Shannon Hale opened some eyes around the SEC last week.
He's the league's Freshman of the Week after he averaged 17 points on 52.6 percent from the field in Tide against Ole Miss and Auburn. Alabama lost to the Rebels but beat the Tigers.
Hale exploded for a season high 27 points and nine rebounds in the 79-67 loss at Ole Miss.
He's averaging 11.4 points a game this season, which is second on the team behind only Trevor Releford (19.0).
Former Pinson Valley star Coty Clarke was named the SEC Player of the Week after he helped Arkansas to wins over Kentucky and Georgia.
Clarke averaged 17 points and five rebounds, including 11 points in overtime in the Razorbacks victory on the road over then 17th-ranked Kentucky.
