Alabama's Sullivan to start opener of NCAA Tallahassee Regional
Alabama baseball coach Mitch Gaspard says pitcher Charley Sullivan will start the opening game of the Tallahassee Regional against Troy on Friday morning.
"He's a good Game 1 starter, because he really sets the tone of how we want to play," Gaspard said on Wednesday before the team left for Tallahassee, FL. "That's really a scrappy, fiery guy on the mound. Really, that's kind of who we are as a team."
Sullivan is 5-6 this season, which is tied for the team lead in victories. He has a team-high 75 strikeouts and 91 innings pitched.
If Alabama beats Troy in the opener, it will play Saturday afternoon against the Florida State-Savannah State winner. If the Tide lose, it will play Saturday morning in an elimination game.
