Alabama's Tax-Free Weekend will kick off this Friday and end on Sunday. During that time, shoppers can purchase school supplies, clothing and computers without paying the state's sales tax on it.
Non-taxable clothing must be below $100. Clothing accessories such as belt buckles, sun glasses, jewelry are still taxable. School supplies must be under $50 per item to be tax-exempt and books must be $30 or less. Magazines, newspapers and periodicals can still be taxed.
The National Retail Federation projects consumers will spend an average of $669.28 on back to school shopping this year. The beginning of the school year is considered the second busiest shopping season of the year.
