Alcohol may help keep a woman's bones healthy

Drinking milk can help build stronger bones, but what about drinking alcohol?

A new study, published in the journal "Menopause" says the key is moderate doses of alcohol.{}{}

Researchers looked at 40 healthy post-menopausal women under 65. That's the age where bones become thinner and the risk for osteoporosis and fractures starts to rise.{} They found women who had one-half to two drinks per day had healthier bones.

There may be more to consider before you buy out the wine section.{} While the study does positively link drinking and bone health, it doesn't say alcohol can prevent broken bones.
