ALDOT to show new plan for I-20/59 to councilors

Alabama Department of Transportation officials will unveil their latest plan for the Interstate 20/59 bridge replacement project to Birmingham City Councilors Wednesday. The department's director John Cooper tells ABC 33/40 there have been four major plans and several revisions to the project since it started nearly two years ago.The latest plan involves forgoing the idea of making 11th Avenue North in downtown Birmingham a major traffic artery. There are also other details and revisions for that plan to be unveiled at City Hall at 4 p.m.Cooper says the aging bridges must be{} replaced, and so far, his department has spent several million dollars to investigate feasibility of its plans and alternatives.Stay with ABC 33/40 for more on this developing story.
