American Apparel appealing loss of military contract

{} {} A company which operates four factories with 1,100 employees in Alabama, is appealing its loss of a contract to produce U.S. military uniforms.{} {} A spokesman for American Apparel says the company has been informed that the contract was awarded to a competitor in Alaska. {}He says the Alaskan company uses workers in Puerto Rico for most of its cutting and sewing work.{} {}American Apparel has filed a protest with the General Accounting Office. {}The GAO has 90 days to review it.{} {} American Apparel's Alabama plants are in Centre, Selma, Oneonta and Opp.
