Amy Bishop sentenced to life in prison
Amy Bishop has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing three of her colleagues and wounding three others during a faculty meeting at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
The jury deliberated for about 20 minutes before reaching it's verdict Monday. Circuit Judge Alan Mann imposed the life sentence. Bishop showed no reaction as the verdict was read and did not speak in court. She avoided a death sentence by pleading guilty to the shootings earlier this month, but she was required to have a trial because she admitted to a capital murder charge.
Bishop is a former professor at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
