Andy Warhol exhibit comes to Birmingham Museum of Art

A world renowned artist's work comes to the Birmingham Museum of Art.

The Andy Warhol exhibit, "Warhol & Cars, American Icons" opens to the public on Sunday.

The exhibition features more than 40 drawings, paintings, photos and other archived material dating from 1946 through 1986.

Why cars? Warhol was fascinated by American culture, especially how automobiles fit into American consumerism.

Eric Shiner, director of the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh said, "Visitors will be able to come and see a wide swath of Warhol and his art production and see how incredibly fascinated he was with the American car."

The art was brought from the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh and was made possible through a partnership with PNC Bank.

A little known fact, Warhol never had a drivers license.
