Anonymous tip leads to meth lab bust

An anonymous tip into the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office turned into a meth lab bust on Sunday.

Just before 7:00 PM,{} the Sheriff's Office received a call that a subject was in the process ofmaking methamphetamine at a residence in the 1100 block of Heflin Avenue West in Forestdale. Deputies responded and found 39 year old Robert Allen Horton in the driveway.

Deputies searched him.{} They found used filters and methamphetamine in his pocket.

Deputies received permission from the property owner to search the residence for active meth labs. As they opened a shed attached to the garage, deputies say a plume of white smoke and a strong chemical odor rolled out.

The deputies evacuated the area of the shed and set up a perimeter to make sure no one was endangered.

Narcotics investigators were called to the scene to process the lab.

Horton was arrested for Unlawful Manufacture of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He is currently in theJefferson County Jail with bonds totaling $65,000.
