Answering Health Care Questions

On October 1, the Affordable Care Act went into effect and the Health Insurance Marketplace opened the exchange online.{} Some people who tried to shop for coverage online, started communicating confusion about the changes.{} That is why there are several events explaining the process and helping folks with their questions.Thursday, October 17, Case Management Society of Alabama Conference is holding a health care conference.{} It starts at 7:30 a.m. at Vestavia Hills Country Club.{} The conference will give people in the area a chance to get more information and ask any questions about what's at stake regarding the changes in health care.{} ABC 33/40's Brenda Ladun is the guest speaker at the event. Then Thursday evening, Congresswoman Terri Sewell will host a unique forum.{} She has put together a telephone town hall meeting to discuss Affordable Care Act and the enrollment process in the Health Insurance Marketplace.{} The phone-based meeting is a way for people to sit in the comfort of their own home, but still get expert answers.{} Rep. Sewell and representatives from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Enroll Alabama will take questions regarding the enrollment process starting at 5:00 p.m."This telephone town hall will allow Alabamians to learn more about the benefits of the ACA and the various options that are available to them from the comfort of their own homes," Sewell said. "The health and well-being of my constituents remains a top priority and this event will assist citizens in making more informed decisions as they enroll in the health insurance marketplace."
