Apartment fire in Cullman damages 18 units, displaces 30 residents (update)

A fire damaged 18 units at the Oak Ridge Apartment complex in Cullman and displaced 30 residents. (

Thirty people from a Cullman apartment complex are sleeping elsewhere Friday night after an early morning fire.'

The fire Oak Ridge apartments damaged 18 units. It started inside of a bottom floor unit at the complex off Highway 278 on Donauer Drive just after 2 a.m.{}

The fire in juried three people, including one man who was taken to UAB's burn unit.

The apartment's management tells ABC 33/40 all but four residents have been placed in a nearby complex. The rest are staying in a hotel or with family until units become available.

The Red Cross is also helping affected families.

The Cullman and State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the fire, as well as the regional office of the AFT.
