According to Arkansas State Athletics Director Terry Mohajir, new Auburn coach Gus Malzahn is planning to coach the Red Wolves in their bowl game.

Arkansas State will play Kent State in the Bowl on January 6, which is held in Mobile at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Malzahn led the Red Wolves to a 9-3 record this season and a Sun Belt Conference Championship.

Mohajir said in a released statement that he and Malzahn would be meeting to discuss the transition, "keeping the interests of our student-athletes foremost in mind."

It was announced on Tuesday that Malzahn had resigned as the coach in Jonesboro, Ark. to become the head coach at Auburn University.

"Coach Gus Malzahn informed us this afternoon that he would be accepting the head coaching position at Auburn University," ASU Chancellor Dr. Tim Hudson said. "We appreciate his contributions to our conference championship season and wish him well."
