Assistant to Speaker of the House resigns

The chief of staff for Alabama House Speaker Mike Hubbard is stepping down from his position at the end of the week.In a statement Monday, Hubbard said Josh Blades is planning to pursue opportunities in the private sector after serving as his chief of staff for the past four years.Blades says he and his wife are expecting their second child and work in the private sector will "allow him to more readily meet the needs of his growing family."Hubbard says Blades' choice is logical and not unexpected.Jim Entrekin Jr., who is general counsel to the speaker's office will fill Blades' position on an interim basis.
