Asthma rates on the rise

The number of Americans suffering from asthma is at an all-time high.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says it saw a significant jump in asthma patients from 2001 to 2010.{} in 2010, one out of every 12 Americans were living with the disease.

Asthma is a chronic disorder with no known cure.{} A person's airflow is periodically obstructed due to inflammation and the contraction of tiny muscles around the airway.{}{}

Patients are encouraged to work with their doctors in creating and following an action plan to respond to and prevent flair ups.
