Attorney pleads guilty in fraud case


An ex-Birmingham attorney has pleaded guilty to his involvement in a securities fraud scheme.Prosecutors say 34-year-old Christopher Shawn Linton of Alabaster pleaded guilty on Tuesday to charges of bank fraud, wire fraud, mail fraud, securities fraud and money laundering.Authorities say Linton defrauded victims by taking their investments in a company he was a partial owner of and depositing them into several bank accounts linked to the law firm he worked at.Linton is ordered to pay $2.5 million in restitution to investors he defrauded. His sentencing is scheduled for May 29.
