Three Auburn football players talked about the firing of their head coach Gene Chizik on Sunday, and all of them, while disappointed, understood the decision.
Sophomore defensive lineman Jeffrey Whitaker:
"It's tough. When you love somebody, it's tough. But it's the business we all live in."
Senior tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen:
"I'm disappointed in the year, disappointed in having to let Coach Chizik go, but it's part of the business in college football, especially at a big time program like [Auburn] in the SEC."
Sophomore running back Tre Mason:
"It's like a dead silence, a lot of hearts broken and feelings, emotions everywhere. But we're going to stick together as a team."
