Blanche Alverson will not have to go far for her shot at professional basketball.
The former Auburn women's basketball player signed a training camp contract with the WNBA's Atlanta Dream.
Alverson played high school basketball in Buford, GA. She'll return to the state next month with an opportunity to earn a spot on the Dream roster.
"I'm really excited about this opportunity with the Atlanta Dream," Alverson said in a statement. "It was a goal of mine to get invited to a training camp and to be able to do it in a place so close to home and Auburn is really exciting. I am ready to get over there, work hard through camp and see what I can do."
Alverson is one of four players in the history of the Auburn women's program to score 1,000 points, grab 500 rebounds, distribute 100 assists and block 50 shots.
