Auburn's Sammie Coates top list of college football 'freaks'

Sammie Coates 'freakish' football ability is being celebrated. Auburn's junior wide receiver tops's list of college football 'freaks'. Bruce Feldman is the architect of the list, which highlights the 20 players who bring a "wow" factor to the field or weight room.Coates led college football in yards per catch last season (21.5 ypc) and he averaged 54 yards on each of his seven touchdowns.The receivers stats on the practice field and weight room are just as gaudy. Auburn strength coach Ryan Russell says Coates runs the 40 yard dash in 4.25 seconds, hits 44 inches in the vertical jump, and puts up 405 pounds on the bench press.

"He's just a stud," Russell told FoxSports. "He really has a ton of God-given ability."

Coates is on the watch list for the Maxwell Award, which will be presented to the top player in college football at the end of the 2014 regular season.
