Authorities identify man who set fire to Hoover home before committing suicide

HOOVER, Alabama -- Authorities have released the name of the man who allegedly shot and killed himself after setting fire to a home in Hoover Sunday morning, ABC 33/40 has learned. Sterling Hayden Womble, 42, died at a residence in the 1800 block of Burning Tree Circle from an apparent suicide. According to police, Womble set fire to the house before shooting himself. The blaze later caused a loud explosion at the home. One of Womble's roommates told ABC 33/40 that the man was disgruntled about his recent eviction from the home.
