Authorities searching for prison escapee from Decatur facility

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Inmate Cody Wade Snelling is considered an escapee from the Decatur Community Based Facility, the Alabama Department of Corrections said.

Shortly after noon Wednesday, Snelling, 22-year-old Snelling was placed on escape after he could not be located during an institutional count.{} Snelling is classified as a community custody inmate and is allowed employment outside the facility.

It was determined that Snelling failed to return from his place of employment.{} Snelling is a 5-foot-8, 200-pound white male with brown hair and blue eyes. He was given a 2-year prison sentence for burglary in April in Calhoun County though he was scheduled for an early release Nov. 15.
