BESSEMER, Ala. -- Authorities are investigating a robbery at the Woodforest National Bank inside a Walmart in Bessemer Thursday morning, a spokesman for the FBI's Birmingham Division said.
The robbery occurred just after 10 a.m. at the bank located at 750 Academy Drive, where a man entered the branch and presented a note to a teller demanding money. According to law enforcement, the suspect held his left hand in his jacket pocket, making it appear as though he had a weapon, though, one was never seen.
The suspect was described as a clean-shaven, white male who wore a black, hooded jacket with a green shirt and blue jeans. He is believed to be around 5-feet-8-inches tall. It is unknown which direction he was traveling following the robbery or if he used a vehicle to flee the scene.
Investigators with the Bessemer Police Department are looking into whether a bomb threat made at a Hueytown Walmart is possibly connected to the robbery as both incidents occurred around the same time.
ABC 33/40 will continue to follow this story and provide updates as more information is made available.
