According to Congressman Spencer Bachus's campaign, Bachus has won his bid for an 11th term in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Media contact, Tim Johnson, told ABC 33/40 the Associated Press has called the race for Bachus, because Bachus was running close to 75 percent of the vote.
At a Republican Party event at Hoover Tactical Firearms, Bachus said he was very optimistic about the race, saying he had great faith in the people of Alabama.
Bachus says he only continues to seek office if he believes he can make a difference.
This term, he says will be focused on immigration, education and much needed jobs for the sixth district of Alabama.
"It really means a lot to me," Bachus said. "Their trust in me and confidence in me. And wherever I go, people come up to me and say 'Congressman, you're doing a good job'."
Bachus was up against Democrat Penny Bailey.
