Tuscaloosa police have charged 33-year-old James McGiboney with attempted murder.
Investigators were called to 3102 Greensboro Avenue to Jailbusters Bonding Company in regards to a report of a shooting. The victim, a 21-year-old male told police he had been called into the business because he had possibly failed to show up for an assigned court date and the business was being held responsible for his bond. Investigators say McGiboney had deceived the victim into coming to the bonding company to sign some "court paperwork" regarding his bond. The victim was extremely hesitant on entering the business. The suspect convinced him to enter and when he did, he says the suspect locked the door and advised the victim he was placing him under arrest. The victim tried to leave the building and the suspect tried to stop him. The two began to fight. The suspect was armed with a handgun and had shown the weapons twice before shoving the victim through the front glass of the business. The victim tried to run when the suspect fired at least two rounds in his direction. He was taken to DCH-ED where he is being treated for a gunshot wound to his lower back. He is listed in stable condition.
McGiboney is facing attempted murder charges and being held on a $60,000 bond.
